Visit Official WebsiteRole with Zoning Committee
The Chicago Plan Commission works closely with the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards by reviewing large-scale development proposals before they reach the Zoning Committee. When a development requires a Planned Development designation or amendment, it must first gain approval from the Plan Commission before proceeding to the Zoning Committee and ultimately the full City Council.
The Plan Commission's recommendations and findings are considered by the Zoning Committee when evaluating zoning changes for these developments, creating a multi-layered review process for significant projects in Chicago.
